NORDSTROM CELEBRATES FALL

The venerable Nordstrom chain of department stores in the U.S. continues to spend good money advertising its plus-size offerings within the pages of its seasonal catalogs, the latest being for September 2009′s Fall/Winter booklet.

Recessions tend to bring out the more conservative or ‘safe’ store buyer choices, but the fact that Nordstrom strives to integrate the look of the Encore department pages into the context of the whole catalog, and that it remains classy and expensive-looking instead of dowdy, greatly helps it maintain relevance to younger shoppers.
