WATER BABY

Cosmopolitan’s Australian edition has long had an editorial policy of including larger models.  The December 2000 issue featured clear skies, form-fitting gowns and lots of glowing skin. Tanned, shirtless menfolk add to the typical Aussie summer feel of the shoot.  The location looks very much like Dee Why on Sydney’s northern beaches.

I love this shoot, colours look amazing. I don’t think this model has done a very good job though. I love that cosmo are using curvy models (this is the only reason why i still buy cosmo) but i agree with the other comment that the men in this shoot have overwhelmed her and you can tell she has struggled.

You know, this shoot was done 9 years ago and a lot has changed in the attitude towards larger models. They are allowed to do more editorial posing now, and the confidence in their ability shines through.

I guess the fairest thing to say is that some images will age better than others, and each model has a different way of doing things. This editorial is a good example of its time, and that’s not a bad thing.

Perhaps it’s just the edit? Or do you just find that you prefer to look at the half-dressed menfolk? LOL
