Ah, those halcyon days of larger models on catwalks wearing skimpy little numbers….truly the beginning of the runway revolution! Following is the video of the first ever big-production show conducted by Lane Bryant, on the occasion of the launch of Cacique Intimates in New York on February 1, 2000. Celebrities appearing in the show included Anna Nicole Smith, Kathy Najimy and Mia Tyler.

It is interesting to note how many of these models are still working today – the star-making power of Lane Bryant and MODE Magazine certainly hasn’t faded.

yeah considering my first walk on the runway as a plus size model was underwear I can totally relate its hard without the experience and ill fitting shoes, it wasn’t until I practiced and filmed it could I see how dreadful I was lol, unfortunately I found it easier as a straight size model to walk but if you practice you can look more fierce as a plus size model, and rock it
I remember when LB launched Cacique! I loved the video, all the women look beautiful. I do agree with the other comment the walk was a bit lacking. More than the walk the faces on these models bothered me. They looked miserable, why was it Anna Nicole, Mia & Kathy were all smiles. Well I do give the ladies props for being able to walk down the runway in high heels, wearing almost nothing. I would have died! LOL

Be fair! How on earth would they have had any experience on a major catwalk strutting in their underwear??? Has to be said the standout is Liris Cross. She totally rocked it – the lady knows she’s stacked..!
