BEAUTY BLOW OUT

Post image for BEAUTY BLOW OUT

This is something of a first, as far as my memory serves: a model, actively marketed as ‘plus size‘ being featured in a beauty article that has nothing to do with body image or self-esteem.  This is the sort of casting I am deeply in favour of: when a model has the right look for the job, size becomes immaterial.  Kudos to you, Australian Women’s Weekly.

I absolutely love the site and ESPECIALLY the idea of the site- for so long I’ve said that WE women do most of the damage to our selves. Look in any “Women’s” magazine and you will see nothing but itty-bitty women in nearly nothing peddling everything. So the idea of a “plus-size” model being used as something *finally* other than plus-sized clothing model or in a spread to show how “curves are beautiful TOO” is wonderful!

Nicole,
Thanks for your visit and for posting. I’ve shortened your comment slightly as per this site’s comments policy. As I’ve said here: Having a visible collarbone, thin arms or a firm stomach doesn’t mean that a model ‘isn’t big enough’ to be a plus-size model: everyone carries their weight differently to someone else of the same dress size, and the measurement range for the models is less restrictive on overall bust-waist-hip proportions than for high fashion models.
